What's Up This Month?

What's up February 2017

Jupiter rises around midnight and reaches the meridian a few  hours before dawn. It is currently getting closer to Earth and will be at opposition in April this year.
There is a noticeable change to Jupiter, its northern equatorial belt seems to have almost merged with the northern temperate belt, the northern tropical zone (beige zone above main northern belt) seems to have almost disappeared.

Saturn rises early morning but remains at a low elevation.

Venus can be sign shining bright in the early evening to the south west with Mars nearby.

Mercury is visible to the south east just before sunrise.
